The iPhone 16 is still over a year away, but rumors about the upcoming device are already starting to circulate. Here’s a roundup of everything we know so far, as well as some of the features we’re hoping to see:
Design and display
Rumors suggest that the iPhone 16 will have a similar design to the iPhone 15, with a flat-edge chassis and a hole-punch and pill-shaped cutout for the front-facing camera and Face ID sensors. However, there are also rumors that Apple may be considering a new design for the iPhone 16 Pro models, with a curved edge chassis and a more durable material.
In terms of display, we’re expecting to see the same OLED displays as on the iPhone 15, with a variable refresh rate of up to 120Hz. However, there are also rumors that Apple may be working on a new micro-LED display technology, which could be introduced on the iPhone 16 Pro models.
Chipset and performance
The iPhone 16 is expected to be powered by the A18 Bionic chip, which will be manufactured using TSMC’s 3nm process. This should result in a significant performance boost over the A17 Bionic chip in the iPhone 15.
The iPhone 16 is rumored to feature a new 48MP main camera sensor, which would be a significant upgrade over the 12MP sensor used in current iPhones. This new sensor could allow Apple to improve low-light performance and add new features, such as 8K video recording.
In addition to the new main camera sensor, the iPhone 16 is also rumored to feature a new ultrawide camera sensor with a wider field of view. This would allow Apple to take better panorama photos and videos.
Other rumored features for the iPhone 16 include:
- Support for Wi-Fi 7
- Under-display Face ID sensor
- Portless design
- Longer battery life
- Reverse wireless charging
What we want to see
In addition to the rumored features listed above, here are some of the things we’re hoping to see on the iPhone 16:
- A higher refresh rate display for all models
- A more durable design
- A better front-facing camera
- Improved battery life
- A lower starting price
It’s still too early to say for sure what features the iPhone 16 will have, but we’re looking forward to seeing what Apple has in store for us.
