Hyundai Santro Magna Executive CNG launched at Rs 5.87 lakh

The Hyundai Santro has gained two new CNG variants in its line-up – the Magna Executive CNG that’s priced at Rs 5.87 lakh and the Sportz Executive CNG, which is priced at Rs 6 lakh. The two new variants are based on the outgoing Magna CNG variant. Hyundai has also discontinued the higher-spec Santro Sportz CNG variant with this update.

Hyundai Santro Executive CNG features

In terms of features, the Magna Executive CNG gets the same level of equipment as the outgoing Magna CNG. It gets a 2-DIN audio system with two speakers, a roof-mounted antenna, manual AC, and steering mounted audio and Bluetooth controls. The Sportz Executive CNG, meanwhile, gets a touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, electrically adjustable ORVMs with integrated turn indicators and a day/night IRVM, over the Magna Executive CNG.

Compared to the outgoing Sportz CNG though, the Santro Sportz Executive CNG misses out on front fog lamps, keyless entry via remote, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility and rear speakers.

Safety-wise, both variants get a driver’s airbag, ABS, a fire extinguisher, central locking, rear parking sensors and a speed alert system.

Hyundai Santro engine and gearbox

The Hyundai Santro is powered by a 1.1-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine that puts out 69hp and 99Nm of torque in petrol guise and 60hp and 85Nm when run on CNG. While the CNG variants are only available with a 5-speed manual, petrol Hyundai Santros also get the option of a 5-speed AMT gearbox.

Hyundai Santro rivals

Rivals to the Hyundai Santro include the Tata Tiago and Maruti Suzuki’s Wagon R and Celerio. Of these, the Wagon R and Celerio come with factory-fitted CNG options that are priced from Rs 5.30 lakh and Rs 5.66 lakh, respectively. The Maruti Suzuki Wagon R CNG recently crossed the 3 lakh unit sales milestone, making it the “highest-selling CNG (passenger) vehicle in the country”, according to the company.
