How to transfer Google Play Music content to YouTube Music

  • If you have not already done so, go ahead and download the YouTube Music app from the Google Play Store.
  • Open the YouTube Music app on your Android device. You should see a “Transfer your Play Music library” option. Press the “Let’s Go” button to continue.”
  • You should then see the “Transfer your latest Google Play Music additions” selection, along with “Not Now” and “Transfer” options at the bottom of the screen. Press the “Transfer” button to start the process.

That should be all you should have to do to transfer your Google Play Music songs, albums, and most other content to the YouTube Music app. Google started rolling out the transfer tool on May 12, so it should be available for all users by now.  You might want to hurry up and make the switch, as some features on the older service will begin to shut down beforehand. That includes the Music Manager and the Music store on the older app.

That’s how to transfer Google Play Music content to YouTube Music. Be sure to get this done before the end of 2020. Otherwise, you might have some problems when the older service shuts down completely by the end of the year.
